How much do elected representatives earn in France? Some figures and observations

With the exception of members of parliament, the maximum compensation payable to elected representatives is fixed as a percentage of the amount corresponding to the gross terminal index of the salary scale of public servants: gross monthly index 1022 of € 3847.57 since February 1st 2017. It varies according to the length of the mandate and the size of the population. In the three months following the taking up of public office, the body deliberates and chooses to fix the maximum compensation or to apply a reduction.
